Making a difference

Problem:

Formed, forged and lead an 8-person design team dedicated to the task of designing a pubic high school around principles of equity, engaged learning, college and career readiness, and vibrant adult teaching culture.

Task:

  • forged consensus and belief on concept, design, and implementation strategies with a geographically diverse team
  • met specific proposal deadlines dictated by a granting foundation’s timeline
  • Wrote an innovative vision of school with distinct signature programs that is both feasible and visionary, but also clear and compelling

Results:

  • We were semi-finalists
  • a team of educational designers that has come into its own, distinct character
  • a strong, attractive vision for a school where the implementation plan is aligned with concept and addresses key needs of adolescent learners from different socioeconomic groups in an integrated school
  • growing interest on the part of possible funders/partners
